West Bengal celebrates the festive season with Amazon.in; witnesses double-digit growth across Home, Kitchen, and Outdoors business

Amidst the festivities, Amazon.in today announced double-digit growth of 20% YoY across the Home, Kitchen, and Outdoors business in West Bengal and Kolkata. The state of West Bengal continues to be an important market for Amazon.in and plays a significant role in both customer and seller base, along with operational facilities. As India’s most loved marketplace, Amazon.in is committed to working with local stores and MSMEs across the state, bringing new tools, technologies, innovations, and initiatives, unleashing the entrepreneurial spirit of Indian businesses. Amazon India has over 95 service partners, 3 delivery stations, and more than 62,000 sellers in the state. Additionally, the online marketplace has invested in creating a robust physical infrastructure across India and 3 fulfillment centers and sortation centers each in Kolkata.

Both West Bengal and Kolkata have witnessed a 30% YoY growth in the demand for home décor products.
Here are some key consumer trends that were witnessed across Kolkata: –

• Customers from Kolkata love buying large furniture such as storage beds, wardrobes, and large sofas, with the category witnessing a 30% YoY growth in demand
• Kitchenware and appliances saw strong growth with pots & pans experiencing a 25% YoY and 15% increase YoY, respectively
• The automotive segment saw an increased demand, with vehicle tools growing by nearly 40% YoY. Amazon.in also saw significant demand for both petrol and electric 2-wheelers. While petrol 2-wheeler sales grew by almost 8X, electric 2-wheelers witnessed more than 10X growth YoY
• The city of joy also saw significant adoption of renewable products with the solar portfolio seeing growth of more than 65% YoY. Solar panels saw tremendous adoption and grew more than 100% YoY
• People of Kolkata also loved buying gardening products from Amazon.in, with live plants seeing a 30% YoY growth
