The Kolkata Jewellery & Gem Fair 2024 Begins, Reigniting East India’s Sparkle Premier 3-day expo by Informa Markets in India will continue till November 25, 2024 at Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan

The glittering 5th edition of the Kolkata Jewellery & Gem Fair (KJGF) opened today at the Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan, celebrating East India’s unmatched jewellery heritage while spotlighting its evolving prominence in global markets. Organized by Informa Markets in India, KJGF 2024 marks its grand return after six years, reaffirming its stature as the region’s most significant platform for the jewellery industry.

The expo boasts over 60 exhibitors, 200+ leading brands, and more than 2,000 unique designs, featuring fine jewellery, gemstones, lab-grown diamonds, gold ornaments, silver artefacts, and cutting-edge jewellery technology. With key exhibitors like Senco Gold, Rasiklal Mohanlal Gandhi, Shree Rama Krishna Exports, and Jodhani Diamonds, the fair offers a dazzling showcase of tradition and innovation.
The grand inauguration was graced by prominent dignitaries, including Dr. Manoj Pant, Chief Secretary, Government of West Bengal; Smt. Vandana Yadav, IAS, Managing Director, West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation; Shri Ashok Bengani, President, CGJWA; Shri Siddharth Sawansukha, Managing Director, Sawansukha Jewellers; Shri Pramod Dugar, General Secretary, CGJWA; Shri Pankaj Parekh, Chairman – East, GJEPC; Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, Informa Markets India; Ms. Pallavi Mehra, Sr. Group Director, Informa Markets India; and Mr. Pankaj Shende, Group Director, Informa Markets India.

Apart from the business showcase, KJGF 2024 is a celebration of the region’s cultural and economic significance in the jewellery industry. Day 1 saw the grand unveiling of the Jewellery Legends of East India Awards, honouring visionaries whose exceptional contributions have set benchmarks in the sector. Day 2 will feature insightful sessions, including “Unlocking Growth in Retail Expansion” by Pritesh Desai and a special discussion by Rapaport on “Essentials and Key Challenges in the Natural Diamond Industry.” With over 2,500 trade visitors expected, the fair serves as a dynamic platform for collaboration between wholesalers, retailers, manufacturers, and exporters, facilitating growth and innovation in East India’s jewellery sector.

The Legacy Continues
KJGF 2024 builds on Informa Markets’ legacy of curating world-class jewellery shows, including the Hong Kong Jewellery Fair, the Delhi Jewellery & Gem Fair (DJGF), and the Hyderabad Jewellery Fair (HJF). The fair offers pre-scheduled meetings, interactive product showcases, and engaging knowledge sessions, all conducted under Informa Markets’ AllSecure Guidelines to ensure a safe and productive environment.
As Kolkata’s jewellers continue to gain international recognition and demand rises from neighbouring markets like Bangladesh, KJGF 2024 stands as a testament to the region’s enduring influence in the global jewellery industry. From exquisite traditional designs to modern innovations, the fair promises to reignite connections and drive growth for East India’s jewellery sector.

Industry Snapshot
India’s gem and jewellery market, valued at USD 43.71 billion in 2023, is projected to grow to USD 133.96 billion by 2030, at a CAGR of 17.35%. The eastern region, including West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, and Jharkhand, contributes 15% of this market share, with Kolkata emerging as a key hub known for its intricate craftsmanship and significant export contributions. Initiatives like the Gems & Jewellery Park at Ankurhati aim to further modernize and expand the sector.

KJGF 2024 runs until 25 November 2024 and is set to be a transformative experience for the regional industry.
