The Rotary Club of Belur successfully inaugurated the Urmila Devi Agarwal Memorial Cervical Cancer Vaccine Project under Global Grant #25-72076 on Saturday, 22nd February 2025, at Shibpur Bhabani Balika Vidyalaya, Howrah, located less than 10 km from Ballygunge, in partnership with Rotary club of Singapore Heartland and Under Medical care partner NARAYAN HEALTH.
The project attended by Rotary District Governor Rtn Dr Krishnandu Gupta, PGD Ravi Sehgal, Convenor Rtn Vishnuji Dhandhania, Jt convenor Rtn Tarun Pal, major donor Rtn Shri B D Agarwal, club President Rtn Anand Agarwal , Project Manager Alokapurna Ghosh and other senior board Members .
This impactful initiative aims to administer 4,000 doses of CERVAVAC vaccines to at least 2,000 girls, significantly contributing to the fight against cervical cancer. The project was made possible through a generous contribution by Rtn. B.D. Agarwal, in loving memory of his late wife, Urmila Devi Agarwal.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the local community, with a strong turnout of parents attending the awareness session. Shibpur Bhabani Balika Vidyalaya, which has over 500 girls in the target age group of 9–14 years, served as an ideal venue for launching this health initiative.
