The Institute of Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Development (iLEAD) has successfully pioneered a groundbreaking healthcare initiative in the Sundarbans region, leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and telemedicine to provide medical services to remote communities.
In collaboration with local pharmacists, iLEAD students from the Critical Care and Optometry programs conducted a health camp, advising and assisting hundreds of patients. Utilizing AI-powered diagnostic tools, the students enabled patients to undergo vital medical parameter tests, including blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, and ECG. The AI system then provided diagnoses and suggested remedies, including lifestyle changes, exercise, and medication, under the guidance of remote medical experts.
This innovative approach has demonstrated the potential to bridge the healthcare gap in rural India, where medical experts and facilities are scarce. iLEAD’s experiment has yielded promising results, and the institution is keen to collaborate with the Medical Council to explore the possibility of scaling this model nationwide.
“ILEAD is committed to harnessing technology and innovation to address pressing national challenges, including healthcare disparities in remote areas. Our AI-powered telemedicine initiative has shown remarkable success, and we believe it can be a game-changer in delivering essential healthcare services to underserved communities, said Pradip Chopra, Chairman, iLEAD.”
