Swami Vivekananda University Hosts Prak Sharadiya Utsav 2025

The Prak Sharadiya Utsav 2025 at Swami Vivekananda University was celebrated on Friday, 19 September 2025 with the chanting of Vedic mantras and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by distinguished guests. Eminent personalities from various walks of society, including noted educationists, senior officials of the state police administration, and other dignitaries, graced the day-long event filled with vibrant cultural performances.

Inspired by the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, the university hosted a series of captivating programs that reflected a harmonious blend of Eastern and Western traditions. From mythological performances depicting the descent of Goddess Durga and the slaying of Mahishasuramardini to contemporary acts highlighting women’s empowerment, social development, and decentralization of power, the event offered a wide spectrum of engaging presentations.

The university campus came alive with vibrant decorations and meticulous arrangements days in advance. From the main entrance to every corner of the campus, students adorned the premises with creative décor, including solar-themed installations and handcrafted art. A highlight of the celebration was a stunning single-structure idol of Goddess Durga made of jute and shola (pith) crafted by students and faculty of the Multimedia and Animation Department. Their artwork, complemented by intricate alpana designs and other handicrafts, rivaled some of the grandest Durga Puja pandals of the city.

The festivities attracted several eminent personalities, including Debshankar Haldar, Gautam Haldar, Srijato, Shubhra Basu, Debashis Roy, Tirtha Bhattacharya, Debadeep Bandopadhyay, Anindya Basu, Chandan Sen, and Pradip Bhattacharya, who engaged in lively conversations with the audience. The packed gathering of students, parents, faculty, and guests created a joyous Puja-like atmosphere, while the striking decorations and idol became a popular spot for selfies. Managing the enthusiastic crowd proved to be a delightful challenge for the university authorities.

The Prak Sharadiya Utsav 2025 celebration at Swami Vivekananda University witnessed the gracious presence of several distinguished dignitaries, adding prestige to the occasion. Their esteemed participation lent immense significance to the festivities and highlighted the university’s commitment to fostering cultural excellence.
