CMRI on Alert 24×7: Because Emergencies Can’t Wait

On the occasion of World Emergency Medicine Day CK Birla Hospitals, CMRI organised a knowledge-led event focused on innovations in emergency medical care and the importance of rapid response systems.
The event began with an engaging live enactment by CMRI’s emergency care team, who re-created real-life scenarios to demonstrate the urgency and coordination required in critical cases. Designed to mirror actual medical emergencies, the performance offered attendees insight into process led emergency protocols which is followed globally. There were patient present in the session who shared their experience.
This was followed by an enriching knowledge sharing panel discussion moderated by Dr Suman Mitra ,Senior Consultant Internal Medicine and Dr Purusatyam Chakraborty, HOD – Emergency department . CMRI’s leading specialists Dr Rakesh Rajput, Director, Orthopedic Surgeon ; Dr Raja Dhar, Director, Pulmonology; Dr Anupam Golash, Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon; Dr Amitava Chanda, Director Neuro- Surgery ; and Dr Ajay Mandal, GI & Hepatobiliary Surgeon reflected on the evolution of emergency care and the game-changing role of AI-assisted triage, real-time imaging, and rapid diagnostics in improving patient outcomes. The session was graced by Unit Head Mr Sombrata Roy representing the hospital’s strategic vision.

According to Dr. Purusatyam Chakraborty Head of the department Emergency opined, “Emergency department of CMRI is the first line of defence against life-threatening conditions, from heart attacks and strokes to severe trauma and respiratory failures. The hospital follows, a process-driven approach ensuring that emergency doctors, nurses, and technicians seamlessly work together to stabilize patients with unparalleled speed and accuracy. Recognised by QAI as Eastern India’s certified Stroke Care Centre, the emergency department has consistently adopted best practices, cutting-edge tools, and interdisciplinary collaboration to strengthen critical care delivery. The mantra is to provide the right treatment to the right patient at the right time.”
The event reflected CMRI’s ongoing commitment to raising public awareness around emergency preparedness and enhancing the speed, accuracy, and accessibility of emergency medicine.
