Techno India Group launches grassroots football development initiative through UKSC Academy

United Kolkata Sports Club (UKSC) Academy today announced the official launch of its grassroots football program for children aged 4–18 years at Salt Lake GD Ground, Kolkata. Designed as a curriculum based, age appropriate, professionally run training ecosystem, the initiative aims to position UKSC Academy as one of Kolkata’s most future-ready and progressive youth football institutions.

The launch was celebrated as a grand football festival, attended by children, parents, dignitaries, footballers, and members of the media. Guests also joined a high-tea interaction, offering an opportunity to engage with the academy’s leadership, coaches, and young players.

The academy was launched in the momentous presence of Shri Satyam Roy Choudhury, Managing Director, Techno India Group, Mr. Debdut Roy Choudhury, Director, Techno India Group, Smt. Krishna Chakraborty, Mayor, Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation, Mr. Babul Supriyo, Cabinet Minister, Govt. of West Bengal holding the portfolios for the department of Information, Technology and Electronics and the Dept. of Public Enterprises and Industrial Reconstruction, Mr. Sabyasachi Dutta, Chairperson, Bidhannagar Corporation, Mr. Ranjan Poddar, Former Borough Chairperson of Borough V, Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation and Mr. Andrew Fleming, British Deputy High Commissioner to East and Northeast India.
At the launch, 3 trophies were also handed over by the dignitaries on stage to the coaches, which included Kanyashree Cup Premier B Champions Trophy, The Indian Football Association West Bengal (I.F.A.), IFA Club Futsal Championship 2025 Runners Up.

At the heart of the initiative is a unified development framework that blends technical training, tactical learning, physical conditioning, discipline, and character development. The curriculum follows a 5-corner development model which includes technical, tactical, physical, mental, and social ensuring children train the way modern football demands, within a structured and age-appropriate pathway. In addition, UKSC Academy aims to create clear pathways for talented players to compete in national and international tournaments, ultimately opening opportunities to advance into our elite youth and senior teams.

The grassroots program spearheaded by Yan Law who is one of India’s youngest AFC Pro Licence coaches and other licensed coaches will offer 2–3 sessions weekly for consistent development, AFC and AIFF-licensed coaches, including former professional footballers, a fixed 1:15 coach-to-player ratio for personalised attention, age-specific batches with a modern curriculum, regular participation in local leagues and tournaments, Quarterly evaluations with detailed report cards and feedback sessions, Player interactions with UKSC first-team athletes focusing on nutrition, discipline & mental conditioning, Safe, inclusive, child-friendly pitches suited to all age groups.

With access to Techno India Group’s vast network of schools, colleges, hospitals, and community centres, UKSC Academy aims to create decentralised football hubs across West Bengal. These will serve as satellite centres for training, talent identification, and community engagement.

UKSC Academy has already operationalised its first centre in Siliguri, with expansion underway in Malda, Durgapur, Falakata, Coochbehar, Jalpaiguri and other districts. With 300+ students across 6 locations, the academy is on a rapid growth trajectory. A pioneering girls’ residential football program is also being prepared in Siliguri, reinforcing the academy’s commitment to gender-inclusive sports development.

United Kolkata Sports Club (UKSC), founded by Techno India Group in 2024, emerged from TIG’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded youth. UKSC has rapidly grown into a dynamic force in Bengal football. In just its first year, the club has delivered standout achievements: becoming the first-ever team in India to win the CFL 1st Division in its debut season and earning promotion to the Premier Division, while also achieving commendable success in women’s football and futsal. Together, TIG and UKSC represent a unified vision leveraging academic excellence, structured sports pathways, and institutional strength to build the next generation of disciplined, confident, and high-performing young athletes.

This strong performance base reinforced UKSC Academy’s goal of preparing the next generation of professional footballers from Bengal.

Speaking about the long-term vision, Mr. Debdut Roy Chowdhury, Director, Techno India Group, said

With its structured philosophy, expert coaching, and institutional backing, the newly launched UKSC Academy grassroots program is poised to become one of East India’s most impactful youth sports movements aimed not only at producing skilled footballers, but confident, disciplined young citizens.
