Ministry of Corporate Affairs & The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs organised Consultation on Ease of Doing Business Reforms under the Companies Act, 2013

Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, under the aegis of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, organised the Kolkata edition of the National Stakeholder Consultation Series on Ease of Doing Business under the Companies Act, 2013 on 12th May 2026 at The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Eastern India Regional Council, Russell St. Kolkata. The consultation forms part of a nationwide initiative to rationalise and modernise corporate compliance frameworks in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.

Shri Gyaneshwar Kumar Singh, Director General & CEO, IICA highlighted the need for intelligent, trust-based and data-driven regulatory reforms, while Shri Balamurugan D, Joint Secretary, MCA, emphasised simplified filing systems, seamless digital governance, and stakeholder-oriented compliance reforms. Shri Uttam Sahoo, Director, Eastern Region, MCA underlined the importance of technology-driven filing architecture for businesses in the Eastern Region.

The consultation witnessed participation from senior officials from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs including Shri Jayant Arya, Registrar of Companies, CA Mayur Agrawal, Chairman, Eastern India Regional Council, ICAI, CS Mamta Binani, Former President, Institute of Company Secretaries of India, representatives from ICAI, ICSI, and ICMAI, industry associations including CII, FICCI, and ASSOCHAM, corporates, startups, intermediaries, insolvency professionals, legal practitioners, and compliance experts, besides 100 plus participants.

The consultation concluded with an Open Floor Stakeholder Interaction moderated by Dr. Garima Dadhich, Head, School of Business Environment, IICA, where participants shared additional recommendations, implementation concerns, operational challenges, and suggestions for future reform prioritisation. The consultation was coordinated by Ms Shubhangi Singh and Ms Annu Yadav of SoBE, IICA. Interactive Mentimeter-based polling exercises were also conducted to capture stakeholder feedback on priority reform areas and implementation considerations.
