Following the completion of the required food safety and regulatory compliance measures, Balaram Mullick & Radharaman Mullick Sweet Pvt. Ltd. has received formal approval from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) for the reinstatement of its factory license. At a press conference held in Kolkata today, Mr. Goutam Mullick, Sole Proprietor & Director, and Mr. Rishav Mullick, Director, Balaram Mullick & Radharaman Mullick Sweet Pvt. Ltd., addressed the media on the reinstatement of the license, and the corrective measures undertaken at the B.L. Saha Road premises.
Additionally, announced the upcoming new outlet in Kalighat.
Following the suspension of the factory licenses at its B.L. Saha Road premises, the company undertook a series of corrective measures to address the observations and requirements raised by the authorities. The key measures undertaken include the following:
Staff Medical Examination & Typhoid Vaccination: Medical examinations and necessary typhoid vaccinations for staff members involved in food production and handling.
Food Preparation Practices: During the inspection, potato peeling was being carried out outside the designated production area, on top of a sack, and the potatoes were subsequently placed and washed in proper clean water. The company clarified that no sabzi was being prepared at the time, contrary to the observation that had been mentioned. The company has since further strengthened its food preparation and handling practices.
Waste Management: Replacement of open waste bins with designated blue dry-waste and green wet-waste bins to strengthen waste segregation and hygiene.
Personal Hygiene & Protective Gear: Mandatory use of aprons, gloves, and headgear by staff involved in food preparation and handling.
Date Tagging & Food Traceability: Introduction of date tags for prepared and semi-prepared food items to strengthen monitoring, storage, and traceability.
Pest Control Measures: Implementation of regular pest-control measures, supported by proper documentation, reports, and a defined schedule.
Food Storage & Handling: Use of covered crates and food-grade containers for safer storage and handling of ingredients and food products.
Structural & Infrastructure Upgrades: Renovation and improvement of the factory infrastructure, including tiling, and necessary repairs and upgrades to the chimney and ducting systems to ensure improved hygiene and production conditions.

The company also clarified that the recent regulatory action was specific to its B.L. Saha Road factory premises and did not extend to its Tollygunge outlet or other outlets. The company’s outlets have their respective FSSAI approvals and continue to operate independently in accordance with applicable food safety and regulatory requirements. The management reiterated that the Tollygunge outlet was not suspended under the regulatory action concerning the B.L. Saha Road facility.
