KolkataThunderbolts, in a spirited bid to fortify their line-up for year’sbiggest volleyball league, PVL Season 3. The team recently concluded astrategic player auction, held at Hotel Sheraton Grand Bangalore in theesteemed presence of – Mr.PawanKuma Patodia, Chairman & Principal Owner of Kolkata Thunderboltsand and Mr.Sumedh Patodia, Team Director & Co-Owner Kolkata Thunderbolts. The team led by the formidable Ashwal Rai announced their keyretentions of Vinit Kumar, Hariprasad and Rahul K. setting the stage for anexciting season ahead. With Ashwal Rai at the helm, also the vice-captain ofthe Indian National Team and Vinit Kumar, the captain of the National Team andVice-Captain for Kolkata Thunderbolts, the team showcases a stellar blend ofleadership and talent. Their emphasis on nurturing new talent aligns with theircommitment to creating a stable and dynamic team structure for the upcomingleague.

Adding depth to their roster, the Thunderbolts secured promising players suchas Praful, Deepak, and the highly anticipated acquisition, Prabhagaran, affectionatelyknown as ‘Kaka,’ a legendary figure in Indian volleyball who returns after ahiatus of two seasons. Hailing from Chennai, Prabhagaran is hailed as the nextstar in Indian volleyball, adding seniority and invaluable experience to theteam’s line-up. Praful emerged as the highlight of the auction, securing a dealof 9.25 lakhs, showcasing the team’s belief in his prowess as a middle blocker.Kolkata Thunderbolt’s strategic approach to blend senior expertise withemerging talents is poised to make waves in the upcoming season, setting thestadium for an enthralling experience of volleyball prowess.

The leaguescheduled from February 19 to March 22 2024 promises high-octane auction andfierce competition among the league’s elite teams. “We are set to win thechampionship with this carefully curated squad! We promise to deliver greatgames of volleyball to all our spectators!” – commented the Chairman &Principal Owner of Kolkata Thunderbolts, Mr.Pawan Kuma Patodia.  AboutKolkata Thunderbolts Kolkata Thunderbolts is inaugural seasonchampion franchise in the RuPay Prime Volleyball League (PVL) in India. Theteam was founded in 2021 and owned by renowned industrialist and entrepreneurCA Pawan Kumar Patodia. Their aim is to bring the sport of volleyball into themain stream and make it an integral part of sporting culture in Bengal. PVL isstreamed domestically on Sony Sports Network in 5 languages, andinternationally on Volleyball World, with a season cumulative viewership of 205+million in just 2 seasons.
