The evening will feature a vibrant lifestyle fashion show showcasing designs inspired by the intricate techniques and vibrant colours of handloom fabrics. Notable personalities from various fields will walk the ramp, including Mr. Abhinav Chandra, IAS, Director of IESWM; Mr. Hugh Boylan, Australian Consul-General in Kolkata; and Dr. Andrew Fleming, British Deputy High Commissioner. In addition to the fashion show, the event will host insightful panel discussions featuring experts from the government, industry, and cultural sectors. These discussions will focus on the future of our weavers and karigars, who are the custodians of these age-old art forms, and explore strategies for supporting their livelihoods while ensuring the sustainability of their crafts.
“Dharohar” serves as a platform to engage in thought-provoking conversations about the artisanal sector’s state and the steps needed to safeguard its future. The WICCI Arts Council recognises the vital role artisans play in preserving rich cultural heritage and aims to foster a supportive environment for their crafts.
