The 2nd edition of the Kolkata Children’s Literature Festival (KCLF) was officially inaugurated today at SPK Jain Futuristic Academy, Newtown, Kolkata. The ceremony was graced by Dr. Shashi Panja, Hon’ble Minister of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare of West Bengal, and Tanusree Shankar, renowned Indian dancer and choreographer.
The inauguration set the tone for a vibrant and enriching festival, celebrating the love of stories and creativity. Both dignitaries expressed their delight at being part of an initiative that encourages young minds to explore literature, art, and imagination.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Jayeeta Ganguly, Principal of SPK Jain Futuristic Academy, remarked, “The universe is made of stories, not atoms. Stories play an integral role in shaping who we are—our dreams, ethics, and imagination all germinate from them. Through KCLF, we aim to ignite a lifelong love for storytelling, fostering a community where children can connect with narratives that inspire, educate, and empower.”

The inauguration was attended by several esteemed guests, including Sri Jaideep Patwa, School Secretary of SPK Jain Futuristic Academy, and Sri Lalit Kankaria, President of the academy. Their contributions and leadership have been pivotal in establishing the school as a center for creative and intellectual pursuits. Accompanying them were Smt. Shashi Kankaria, Smt. Sonal Choraria, Smt. Kusum Patwa, and Smt. Trishla Bhansali, whose unwavering support has further enriched this initiative.
The event also witnessed the gracious presence of Sri Sardarmal Kankariaji, President of Sri Shwetambar Sthanakvasi Jain Sabha, along with Sri Pannalal Kocharji, Sri Surendra Banthiaji, Sri Binod Minniji, Sri Ashok Minniji and Sri Pradip Patwaji all of whom have played significant roles in promoting educational and cultural endeavors in the community.
Launched in January 2024, KCLF has quickly grown into a vibrant platform where children, educators, author, and illustrators come together to explore the magical world of literature. This year’s edition builds on the success of its inaugural year with an even more enriching lineup of activities, designed to spark curiosity and imagination in young readers.
The inaugural event witnessed an enthusiastic turnout, reflecting the excitement surrounding this year’s festival. KCLF 2025 continues on January 11 and 12, inviting children and families to discover the magic of literature and creativity.
