Tolly diva Srabanti Chatterjee, who has turned presenter with the upcoming Bengali movie ‘Daanter Lorai’, was present at the trailer launch of the movie along with the cast and crew of the film. The trailer launch of the movie was held at the lounge of Heddone, the largest beverage store in Eastern India.

During the event, Srabanti said, “I am extremely excited to present ‘Daanter Lorai’. The movie is set in the 1970s and revolves around a girl called Khuku who is very fond of a candy called Daanter Lorai, which was actually very popular in those days. The movie depicts the story of how Khuku manages money for her father’s treatment and how she craves to visit the big city with her father. The climax of the movie is a very emotional one and will surely stay with the audience for a long, long time. The movie has been made very well by Biplob Kayal and captures the beauty of rural life. I congratulate 7 Horses Production for making such a wonderful movie.”

She further added, “I also loved the performance of the cast. What has amazed me is the fact that both Akansha Sengupta and Swastika Das, who have played the role of Khuku and her mother respectively, are of the same age and from the same school. It’s impossible for the audience to decipher that by watching the trailer or the movie. I cannot remember when that happened last time. This is a very rare thing indeed.”

Director Biplab Kayal said, “We are honoured to have the legend Srabanti Chatterjee as our presenter. This is a very special movie. All the cast and crew have worked very hard on this project. The story is sure to touch the audience. Please catch the movie in theatres.”

Akansha Sengupta, who plays the central character Khuku, said, “It was very challenging to portray a girl from a rural area. I had to learn how a village girl talks. I hope that the audience will like my performance. Also, I feel immensely lucky that my debut movie is being presented by an icon like Srabanti Ma’am.”

Swastika Das, who plays Khuku’s mother, added, “Initially, I was a little taken aback when I was offered the role of Khuku’s mother. But with a lot of workshops and rehearsals, I got into the skin of the character.”

Vishnu Agarwal, one of the owners of Heddone said, “We are glad to be the partner of Daanter Lorai. Srabanti Chatterjee is a big icon in Bengali cinema and she is presenting this movie. So Heddone is proud to be one of the partners with such a movie. We wish the movie a great success.”

The trailer launch event was also attended by singers Debopriyo Das, Arijit Kishore Ray, Parijat Chakraborty, and Abhilash Chakraborty. Daanter Lorai will release in theatres on 11th July 2025.
