Bandhan Bank, a pan-India universal Bank, today announced the extension of its CSR grant to Assam Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF), a partnership between the Government of Assam and Tata Trusts. The grant will support the delivery of standardised and affordable cancer care closer to patients’ homes across 17 districts in Assam over the next two years.

This initiative aligns with Bandhan Bank’s commitment to fostering a healthier and more equitable society. The contribution will support patients through various stages of cancer treatment, improving access to quality healthcare and helping reduce financial hardship for families. Bandhan Bank has nearly 500 touch points spanning across the state of Assam catering to about 15 lakh customers in the state of Assam.

The CSR collaboration was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at a ceremonial event held in Guwahati. The event was graced by Mr. Pranab Kumar Sarmah, IAS, Secretary MERD, Mr. Partha Pratim Sengupta, MD & CEO, Bandhan Bank, Dr. (Maj Gen) Jai Prakash Prasad, COO, ACCF along with senior officials from Tata Trusts, ACCF and Bandhan Bank.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Partha Pratim Sengupta, MD & CEO of Bandhan Bank, said , “Access to quality healthcare is fundamental to an objective and progressive society. Bandhan Bank is committed to serve the people of Assam. We have nearly 500 touch points to cater to the banking and financial needs of the people of Assam. The Bank has extended CSR grant support to Assam Cancer Care Foundation for comprehensive support in cancer care to the underprivileged patients to overcome the challenges of affordable healthcare. We are proud to partner with Assam Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF) as it plays a vital role in serving patients in Assam and across the Northeast.”

“This collaboration marks a significant step forward in easing the burden on cancer patients, many of whom are forced to discontinue treatment due to financial constraints,” said Dr. (Maj Gen) Jai Prakash Prasad, COO, ACCF.

The CSR grant from Bandhan Bank will support the Assam Cancer Care Foundation’s (ACCF) mission to provide accessible and affordable cancer treatment to needy and poor patients. By directly supporting healthcare costs, the grant will alleviate a substantial financial burden on vulnerable families, enabling them to pursue essential medical interventions without fear of economic ruin. Furthermore, extending this support to cover out-of-pocket expenses like accommodation and travel will remove critical barriers to care, ensuring that geographical distance or lack of resources do not prevent patients from accessing cancer treatment at ACCF’s facilities across the state. This comprehensive assistance will not only improve patient outcomes and quality of life but also empower ACCF to expand its reach and continue its vital work in building a robust, patient-centric cancer care network in Assam.
