The Builders’ Association of India (BAI), an apex body of the All India Association of Engineering Construction Contractors & Builders, proudly celebrated a landmark twin occasion hosted by its Eastern Centre, Kolkata, commemorating 75 years of enduring commitment and contribution to nation-building, along with the observance of Engineers’ Day on September 15, 2025.

This twin occasion stood as both a tribute to engineering brilliance and a celebration of BAI Eastern Centre’s 75-year journey — a legacy marked by innovation, technical advancement, and steadfast service to India’s infrastructure development.

On this auspicious occasion, an exclusive felicitation ceremony was held to honour eminent engineers and senior technocrats from various sectors who had set exemplary benchmarks in excellence, innovation, and service. These stalwarts significantly shaped the built environment and contributed to the advancement of India’s construction and engineering landscape.

Engineers’ Day was observed on September 15 to mark the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya, the iconic engineer, visionary, and statesman whose legacy continued to inspire generations. The event underscored BAI’s ongoing commitment to recognizing the vital role engineers had played in shaping the physical and economic fabric of the state and the nation.

On the occasion, Shri Amlan Kumar Biswas, Chairman – BAI Kolkata Centre, “BAI organization aims to promote unity, ethics, and transparency in the construction industry, fostering healthy relationships between clients, contractors, and end-users. It seeks to modernize methods, standardize tender procedures, ensure worker safety and welfare, and provide training. With 80 years of experience, the organization has made significant strides, including introducing Price Variation Clauses and hosting the All India Builders’ Convention and Exhibition to facilitate idea exchange and business transactions, promoting a sense of brotherhood among industry professionals.”

The celebration was graced by senior officials from CPWD, PWD, HRBC, MBL, PHE, along with renowned engineers, policymakers, academic leaders, and distinguished professionals from the infrastructure and construction sectors. The event was an evening of recognition of contributions by senior engineers and technocrats, reflection on the journey of engineering and construction excellence, and renewed commitment to innovation and sustainable infrastructure development.
