Adding to the spirit of the festive season, The Astor Kolkata hosted its much-awaited Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on 13th December 2025 at its charming outdoor café and bar, Deck 88. The annual celebration brought together patrons, guests, friends of the hotel and the Astor team for an evening that reflected warmth, togetherness and the joy of the season.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Amit Kobat, General Manager, The Astor Kolkata, shared insights into the hotel’s Christmas and New Year plans, while highlighting the significance of the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. He noted that the event serves as an opportunity to pause, celebrate togetherness and give back to the community, reinforcing the values that lie at the heart of Christmas. As the evening unfolded, the festive mood was further elevated by soulful Christmas carol singing, which filled the air with cheer and nostalgia.

Deck 88 was beautifully transformed for the occasion, adorned with elegant Christmas décor that created a magical setting as dusk set in. Soft lighting, festive accents and the open-air ambience came together to create the perfect backdrop for an evening of celebration, making the space come alive with seasonal cheer.

Guests were treated to a thoughtfully curated selection of festive beverages from Deck 88’s stellar bar, including comforting hot chocolate topped with marshmallows, aromatic mulled wine infused with spices and oranges, and refreshing orange mocktails. An interesting spread of bite-sized vegetarian and non-vegetarian delicacies complemented the drinks, allowing guests to savour a variety of flavours through the evening.

Adding a thoughtful personal touch to the celebrations, every guest was presented with a Christmas cake as a takeaway, leaving them with a sweet reminder of the evening. The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony stood as a graceful continuation of The Astor’s annual festive traditions—an evening that celebrated joy, community and the timeless spirit of the season.
