As part of the Government of West Bengal’s State-wide green campaign “একটি গাছ মায়ের নামে”, aligned with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organised a plantation and awareness programme on World Environment Day at the CII-Suresh Neotia Centre of Excellence for Leadership, Kolkata. The campaign, launched under the leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Secretary, Government of West Bengal, aims to enhance the State’s green cover and will continue till March 2027.
The programme was graced by Mr Dilip Ghosh, Hon’ble Minister in Charge, Department of Agricultural Marketing, Panchayats and Rural Development and Animal Resources Development, Government of West Bengal, as the Chief Guest. The event also brought together industry representatives and stakeholders to reaffirm their commitment to a greener and more sustainable future.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Ghosh said, “We must stop using plastic, and that change can begin with our personal practices. We should carry sustainable bags while shopping for groceries and other essentials. Tree plantation is not a one-day activity; we must continue planting trees throughout the year. Protecting the environment is our collective responsibility, and Bengal has a significant role to play in this endeavour. We must take this awareness initiative seriously and encourage wider participation. We stand with society and development, and we believe in holistic development guided by the principle of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.”
