CTMA organizes free cataract surgery camp for the poor; donates AB-Scan machine

The Cable TV Equipments Traders & Manufacturers Association (CTMA), in association with East Kolkata Nagrik Foundation, organised a Free Eye Operation Camp for 100 cataract patients from economically weaker sections of the society today at Lake Town, Kolkata. Dr Sayantan Ghosh and his team performed the phaco surgeries on needy patients.

Shri Sujit Bose, MLA, Minister-in-Charge, Fire and Emergency Services, formally unveiled a AB-Scan Machine donated by CTMA to Eastern Kolkata Nagrik Foundation.

“I congratulate CTMA and Eastern Kolkata Nagarik Foundation for arranging the free eye camp here today which benefited more than 100 needy people. I also express my deepest gratitude to CTMA for donating the eye-care equipment, I am glad that besides cable business they are also active in social welfare initiatives. I have also formally inaugurated another costly eye care machine set up by Eastern Kolkata Nagarik Foundation who are also engaged in helping the poor. I wish them all the best and my support in furthering such initiatives in the future,” said Mr Sujit Bose.

“Sight is one of the most precious gift to mankind but sadly many poor people cannot afford the cost of eye care and surgery. The free eye camp is a small gesture on part of CTMA to reach out to the poor with latest eye care. We are thankful to surgeon Dr Sayantan Ghosh and our associate East Kolkata Nagrik Foundation for making the Free Eye Operation camp a huge success. Being a part of an initiative to help our poor brothers and sisters get their proper eyesight back is a very humbling experience that makes us all very proud. CTMA will continue to carry out such social welfare activities in the future,” said Mr Pawan Jajodia, Treasurer, CTMA.

Members of CTMA Rajesh Doshi, Rajendra Agarwal, Pawan Jajodia, Pawan Gupta, Pawan Bajaj, Ram Kishan Bajaj, Prakash Nahata, Purushottam Kejriwal were present along with Pritam Kr Daftary, Purushottam Lal Khetan, Prakash Raj Rajaji, Ashish Agarwal – members of East Kolkata Nagarik Foundation.

Each year CTMA, which hostsSaarc region’s largest cable television show in Kolkata, as a part of it social welfare initiative, organizes the Free Eye Operation Camp for the needy persons. More than 200 people have benefited so far.
