Manipal Hospitals Kolkata, one of the leading healthcare providers of India hosted Kolkata’s first-ever Senior Citizens’ Sports Summit today. The programme commenced with a customary inaugural lamp-lighting ceremony graced by former Indian cricketer Arun Lal as the chief guest along with eminent doctors of Manipal Hospitals Kolkata. The summit witnessed spirited participation by more than 100 elderly citizens, who engaged in a variety of games such as chess, carrom, marble & spoon race, musical chairs, brain teasers, spelling bee and many more. The initiative was conceived to enhance fitness, agility, and mental alertness, while also encouraging social interaction and joy among seniors.
As part of the summit, an engaging panel discussion was held on the importance of holistic wellbeing for senior citizens. The panel featured esteemed experts from Manipal Hospitals, including Dr. Jayanta Roy (Director & Head – Neurology, Manipal Hospitals, Kolkata), Dr. Kunal Sarkar (Director – Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery, Manipal Hospital, Mukundapur Cluster), Dr. Debraj Jash (Consultant – Pulmonology, Manipal Hospitals, Broadway), Dr. Subhasis Roy Choudhury (Consultant – Cardiology, Manipal Hospitals, Broadway), Dr. Binayak Sinha (Consultant – Diabetes & Endocrinology, Manipal Hospitals, Broadway) and Dr. Debasis Chakravarty (Consultant – Orthopaedics, Manipal Hospitals, Mukundapur).

The Senior Sports Summit, being the first of its kind in Kolkata, reinforced the importance of active aging, proving that growing older does not mean giving up on fun, fitness, or well-being. More than a competition, it was a celebration of healthy living, camaraderie, and joyful memories.
