Camellia Productions Private Limited proudly announces its upcoming Bengali feature film, Ishkaboner Bibi, a gripping social crime thriller adapted from the acclaimed novel ‘The Simple Girl’ by Piyush Jha. The film is directed by the glorious filmmaker Arindam Sil.
Set against the urban landscape of Kolkata, “Ishkaboner Bibi” delves into the unsettling reality of a calculated criminal network operating beneath the facade of social trust. The story follows Tulika Roy, a respected school teacher whose life spirals into crisis after her husband suffers a catastrophic accident. Burdened with arranging ₹50 lakh for a critical medical procedure, Tulika becomes entangled in a sophisticated racket that manipulates emotional vulnerability and institutional credibility.
As the narrative unfolds, two other educators — Madhura and Anjali — find themselves caught in a similar pattern of orchestrated deception. What begins as isolated incidents gradually reveals a structured conspiracy involving staged accidents, fabricated medical emergencies, and a deeply disturbing child trafficking operation. By exploiting the unquestioned social standing of school teachers, the network operates within a system built on misplaced trust.
The film stars Arunima Ghosh,Trina Saha and Poulami Das in lead roles, portraying three women who confront fear with resilience. Supporting performances include Gourab Chatterjee and Arjun Chakrabarty, along with an accomplished ensemble cast.
Through Ishkaboner Bibi, Camellia Production Private Limited continues its commitment to delivering compelling narratives that combine cinematic intensity with socially relevant themes. The film seeks to spark critical dialogue about systemic vulnerabilities within trust-based institutions, while foregrounding a powerful narrative of female resistance and moral courage.
