National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), the Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, in association with Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO), organised a Roadshow on Angul Aluminium Park in Kolkata, today to showcase investment opportunities in downstream and value-added aluminium manufacturing.

Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Union Minister of Coal & Mines, Government of India graced the inaugural session as the chief guest. Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Mines, Govt of India, Shri Brijendra Pratap Singh, CMD, NALCO, Shri D. Prasanth Kumar Reddy, IAS, Managing Director, IDCO and Shri Sanjib Kumar Patwari, Co Chairman ASSOCHAM were notably present on the occasion as the distinguished guests. At the outset Shri Jagdish Arora, Director (P&T), NALCO delivered the welcome address and called upon the investors to take advantage of the investor friendly eco system which not only aims as an investment destination but also having immense potential for employment generation.

Addressing the gathering Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Union Minister of Coal & Mines, Government of India said that in line with the hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of strengthening domestic manufacturing and building a self‑reliant India, aluminium – the Green Metal and Metal of Tomorrow – is central to the journey towards Atmanirbhar Bharat. “India currently imports nearly USD 4 billion worth of high‑finish aluminium products, even with substantial domestic capacity. Bridging this gap through enhanced production, greater value addition, and a strong downstream ecosystem is a key priority” he said. This proposed aluminium industrial initiative will be a pivotal platform for investors and industries to establish and expand operations, foster innovation, generate employment, and strengthen India’s aluminium value chain. Such collaborative efforts will contribute meaningfully to the larger national vision of building a Viksit and Atmanirbhar Bharat, said the hon’ble union Mines Minister Shri G. Kishan Reddy.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Mines, Government of India, emphasised the need for the aluminium sector to move beyond primary production towards greater value addition and high‑value finished products. He also stressed for greater infusion of technology, innovation, and indigenous R&D capabilities to deliver high‑quality products at competitive costs.

Shri Brijendra Pratap Singh, CMD, NALCO, in his address highlighted that the Angul Aluminium Park is envisaged as a key platform to translate opportunities into meaningful industrial partnerships and to build a strong, integrated downstream aluminium ecosystem around NALCO’s operations at Angola. He acknowledged the continued support of the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, and the Government of Odisha in creating an enabling ecosystem that has allowed NALCO to play a meaningful role in developing the aluminium value chain in the region.

Shri D. Prasanth Kumar Reddy, IAS, MD IDCO, said that over the last two years, Odisha has emerged as a preferred investment destination, driven by its proactive approach and investor-friendly policies. Strategically located, the Angul Aluminium Park offers a unique advantage with its molten metal corridor and ready availability of land, water and energy. He further said that the Park is poised for significant expansion and will provide an enabling platform for downstream industries, value addition and MSME growth.

Organised by NALCO with the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) as the event partner, the roadshow brought together policymakers, industry leaders and prospective investors to explore opportunities for establishing and expanding aluminium-based manufacturing operations. The Roadshow was attended by over 250 representatives from the investor community, industry associations, and other stakeholders. The roadshow placed spotlight on Angul Aluminium Park Private Limited (AAPPL), a joint initiative of NALCO and IDCO established at Anugola in Odisha to create a world-class destination for downstream aluminium industries. AAPPL provides access to key industrial infrastructure, including industrial land, reliable power and water supply, road connectivity, and R&D and testing facilities, enabling investors to develop manufacturing operations within a supporting industrial ecosystem. A key proposition for prospective investors is the availability of NALCO’s hot metal as a critical raw material for downstream manufacturing. NALCO will provide 50,000 tonnes of hot metal annually at a discounted rate, offering investors an opportunity to secure a reliable source of raw material and support the economics of establishing downstream aluminium manufacturing facilities.
