The Lux Shyam Kolkata Tigers, representing the districts of Kolkata and Hooghly in the Bengal Pro T20 League, had a scintillating start to their innings recently. Co-owned by Lux Cozi and Shyam Steel Group, both the men’s and women’s teams won their first match . They performed brilliantly in thrilling matches against the Adamas Howrah Warriors at the iconic Eden Gardens and Jadavpur University Campus, respectively.
The men’s team, led by Bengal wicket-keeper batsman Abishek Porel, demonstrated exceptional skills and teamwork under the guidance of Head Coach Shib Sankar Paul and Assistant Coach Kanchan Maity.
The Kolkata Tigers’ team, comprising talented players like Karan Lal, Subham Chatterjee, Sayan Ghosh, and Akash Pandey, put up an impressive performance. What, in fact, really mesmerized the audience was their brilliant team strategy and amazing defense throughout the game.
In a tightly contested match, the Kolkata Tigers downed the Adamas Howrah Warriors by 16 runs via the DLS method. The victory marks a promising start for the team in the league, setting a high benchmark for the incoming matches.
Saurabh Srivastava of Lux Shyam Kolkata Tigers was declared Man of the Match. While Avilin Ghosh scored the highest for Kolkata with 42 runs off 30 balls, Sujit Yadav’s impressive bowling, taking 3 wickets for 17 runs in 4 overs, enthralled the whole Edens.
The Tigers batted first and made only 125 runs. Kolkata captain Abishek Porel was caught behind on the very first ball of the match. Anushtup Majumdar’s Adamas Howrah Warriors lost by 16 runs in the rain-soaked match.
Meanwhile, the Lux Shyam Kolkata Tigers Women’s team also triumphed against the Adamas Howrah Warriors on 13th June at 9:00 AM at Jadavpur University Campus, Kolkata. Player of the Match Mamata Kisku led the women’s team to victory with an impressive 53 runs off 48 balls. The entire team scored 125/3 in 20 overs, while the Adamas Howrah Warriors Women’s team managed 122/9 in 20 overs.
