The Durga Puja celebrations at Motilal Nehru Road, organized by the 80-year-old Maitri Sangha Durgotsav Club, paid a breathtaking tribute to the rich cultural heritage of Murshidabad this year. Durga Puja in Kolkata is one of the city’s most spectacular festivals, drawing lakhs of people and offering a unique experience at every turn. The streets come alive with vibrant celebrations, and the artistic expressions seen in the Pandal decorations are among the most striking aspects of the festival. Each Pandal is a masterpiece, showcasing the creativity, talent, and innovation of the artists who design them, reflecting the true spirit of the festival.

This year’s Durga Puja celebration at Motilal Nehru Road has a unique and spectacular theme: the cultural grandeur of Murshidabad. The Pandal, a magnificent replica of the iconic Kathgola Palace, highlights Murshidabad’s historical and architectural significance with the goal of promoting tourism to this rich cultural destination. The event has seen the gracious presence of notable figures like Sidharth Dudhoria, Raja of Azimganj, and Pradip Kumar Chopra, President of the Murshidabad Heritage Development Society (MHDS) and Chairman of PS Group and iLEAD, along with several artists and public figures, adding charm and grace to the celebration.

In addition to the architectural marvel of the Pandal, the event features a variety of authentic local cuisine stalls, offering visitors a taste of Murshidabad’s culinary traditions and creating opportunities for the people of the region. This effort is aimed at boosting tourism and fostering local development.
“Our primary objective is to inspire individuals to adopt a purpose-driven approach to life, where every aspect is guided by a desire to give back to society. Through our Murshidabad theme, we seek to convey a powerful message to the public, encouraging them to explore and appreciate the hidden gems in their vicinity,” said Mr. Chopra.

The Pandal emphasizes Murshidabad’s cultural and historical significance, offering a glimpse into the district’s glorious past. This initiative is a commendable effort to preserve and promote Murshidabad’s heritage while also contributing to the local economy and fostering community development.
For the first time, a 3D virtual reality show is being organized, allowing visitors to journey through the history and splendor of Murshidabad. Additionally, 27 stalls have been set up to showcase and promote the local cuisine of Murshidabad, giving visitors a chance to experience the region’s authentic flavors.

This Puja theme not only pays tribute to the rich heritage of Murshidabad but also serves as a platform to boost tourism and create employment opportunities for its people. By highlighting the beauty and potential of Murshidabad, the celebration aims to inspire individuals to consider the possibilities for the region’s growth and the utilization of its local resources, ultimately benefiting the people of Murshidabad and setting a positive example for others to follow.
