The trailer launch event of director Indraadip Dasgupta’s film Grihapravesh was a star-studded affair.
Titli (Subhashree), who was left by her husband the morning after their wedding, is the focus of the Grihapravesh trailer. She carries out her duties with quiet fortitude after being left to live with her in-laws. The elderly in-laws are portrayed by Kaushik Ganguly and Sohini Sengupta, and as time passes, their emotional reliance on their daughter-in-law grows.
However, when a paying guest enters the house, their entire way of life is upended. Titli and Meghdoot (Jeetu Kamal) gradually grow close, and eventually they wish to start a family together. Nevertheless, Meghdoot has a personal secret.
Indraadip Dasgupta’s fifth film as a director is Grihapravesh. “This is a tribute to the late director Rituparno Ghosh. The name of the lead actor of my film is from a film by Rituparno Ghosh. I am glad the producers trusted me and invested in the film,” said the director. With Samragnee Bandopadhyay writing the screenplay and dialogue, Indraadip also serves as the film’s writer and composer.
Before the trailer launch event, a remembrance was organized for the late director Rituparno Ghosh. The film Grihaprvaesh is a fitting tribute to the late director.
The panel discussion was graced by Prosenjit Chatterjee, Kaushik Ganguly, Mahendra Soni, Srinjoy Bose, Subhashree Ganguly, Jeetu, Abir Chatterjee, and Raj Chakraborty.
Kaushik Ganguly said, “While acting in Arekti Premer Golpo, he dressed like a female. He looked so beautiful. He asked me whether I looked as beautiful as Rekha. And I said yes, you look more beautiful than her”.
He also added, “Rituparno Ghosh loved his mother. And that was evident in his works, too. When we used to work together, if I wanted to go home for some outing with Churni, he would not allow me to go. But when my mother hurt herself after falling, he let me go. He had great love for mothers”.
Abir Chatterjee regretted not getting the chance to work with Rituparno Ghosh. “However, he was on the set of Abar Byomkesh for a whole day. He asked the director, Anjan Dutt, for permission to stay on the set. Hence, indirectly, it was like working with him. He pointed out different intricacies while on the set. This was what set him different from the other directors,” said the actor.
Subhashree said, “I am thankful to Indraadip da for actually seeing Titli in me. The audience will find traces of Rituparno Ghosh in every frame of the film. When I remember Rituparno Ghosh, I am reminded of an event where I met him. He said that he had seen my film Poran Jai Jolia Re. That was a huge thing for me. However, I regret not getting the chance to work with him”. Grihapravesh is slated for release soon.
